Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vucic was targeted at an event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre
The Serbian prime minister was today attacked as he attended a service to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre.
Aleksandar Vucic was forced to flee after he was targeted by an angry Bosnian mob who pelted him with stones, shoes and bottles as he arrived at the mass burial held to mark the atrocities. One rock is understood to have struck the leader in his face, breaking his glasses.
Some 8,000 Muslim men and boys from the town were slaughtered at the hands of Bosnian Serb forces amid the break up of Yugoslavia. Serbia, who backed the Bosnian Serbs at the time with men and money, continues to deny the killings were genocide and claims the death toll has been overstated.
